This is a song by my friend Jody and I. We call ourselves Slimwit. It's a great name because it just is. Slim is the Afrikaans word for clever. Wit is the English word for wit. Wit in Afrikaans also means white, which is what we are. Slim in English means thin, which is also what we are (or were a few years ago).
In fancy terms, Slimwit is the musical brainchild of beats master Brotherman and Indie pop rocker A Boy Called Wolf Ears. Formed as a collaborative take on urban trash poetry Slimwit combines pop song melody with breakbeat texture. Influences combine the South African landscape, 80’s references and the latex crusted gloss of suburban rap.
(That's right - the latex crusted gloss of suburban rap. Beat that!)
