BAKED BEANS. WITH MAYO. AND PERI-PERI.

2013. We made it everybody. The dark clouds that threatened to engulf our skylines never arrived and now we can look forward to waters seemingly unchartered by the Mayan calendar. What does this mean? It means we carry on from where we left off and hope we give ourselves a better shot at getting it right.

I for one am quite pleased the world didn’t end. The ramifications looked dire. Worst case scenario – we’re all dead, which in hindsight might not have been so bad if it had been something quick and painless. What, though, if it was death via a string of natural disasters all happening at once, a slow, prolonged aggravation. Think of the panic. And the mess. I hate rubble.
I also heard an interesting one which said the sun wouldn’t come up and everything electrical or technological would just stop working. Food for thought. We didn’t even stock up on candles, water, or tins of baked beans so we would have been fucked. (Come to think of it I haven’t had a baked bean for almost two years. Scandal.)

This year then I’m looking to be a better person. Not saintly just better. I’m not that stupid. I also want to enjoy life more. Last year I found myself worrying about a bunch of things that; 1) didn’t come to pass, and 2) if they did come to pass I would have had to deal with them whether I was worrying about them or not. The older I get the more I realise that life is too short for such wastefulness. I also want to watch Game of Thrones because otherwise I might just be the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen it. And eat a whole bowl of baked beans. With mayo. And peri-peri. So there.

Sound like a good 2013? Course it is.

And if the world does end, well, there are just some things you can’t plan for. Sometimes you just got to roll with the punches. It's not much I know but it's all I got. And that's good enough.
